This article makes an overview of recent developments in legal area, considers some relevant arguments, and explores an education that could enable students to think properly about this topic.\n In 2023, “Act on Promoting Public Understanding of Diversity in Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity” was enacted. In parliamentary deliberations, there were hot discussions about whether the main idea should be “promoting understanding” or “banning discrimination”. And the Supreme Court declared the unconstitutionality of some prerequisites for gender change of “Act on Special Cases in Handling Gender Status for Persons with Gender Identity Disorder”. This ruling also triggered social debates on gender identity.\n I suggest that we should think about “what correct information is” and “what right understanding is”. “Correct information” is not so much an objective fact as a constructive recognition.
