内容記述 This paper aims to clarify the issue and perspective about the evaluation of food and agriculture education by considering previous studies on food and agriculture childcare and education.
Food and agriculture education refer to educational activities that integrate food education with nature experience learning. This educational activity aims to solve social issues related to food and agriculture.
However, despite these expectations, reports from researchers who participated in the actual initiatives point out that it is difficult to explicitly state the evaluation perspective on what children learned through this educational activity.
The evaluation of children’s learning and development serves as a basis for judgment to realize better educational practices. Therefore, clarifying the perspective of evaluation becomes an urgent task.
As a result of reviewing previous studies, the evaluation criteria included: fully engaging in the senses to cultivate sensitivity and intellectual understanding toward food and agriculture; comprehending educational topics within their historical context and underlying challenges; and engaging in repeated discussions by comparing different values and perspectives. Additionally, regarding evaluation methods, questionnaires, text mining, and image maps were employed to assess educational effectiveness. However, no consideration had been given to how teachers in the field should evaluate the children.
Food and agriculture education is an educational activity involving not only teachers in the field, but also parents, community members, agricultural producers, and various other individuals. Therefore, an approach to assessment is deeded where those involved in education collaboratively capture the learning process and outcomes, recognizing the growth of each individual learner.
