内容記述 | We cognize the world through our cognitive frame of references. Cognitive frames of references are product of our activities; cultivated through the human activities. Each frame of references is created and modified through human activities as whole in history, transferred to each individual through educational processes, modified to each individual’s frame of references through experiences. Our cognitive frame of references is not simple. We use several sets of frames of frame of references in our cognitive process. In our daily life, our cognitions are guided by the technological view of world and the mechanical view of world (or scientific view and religious view) at the same time. Most of us does not feel contradiction in such situations. Most of us accepts both frames of references at the same time. Religious view is considered superstition from scientific view. Scientific view is considered blasphemy from religious view. We, however, have to reconsider such simple understanding of cognitive frame of references. Frames of references are historical product of human activities. Each frame of references is built up through human activities to recognize world, therefore have characteristics of theory to describe the world as accurately as possible within that the limitation of human recognition and knowledges at the point of historical society. By the growth of human experiences and knowledge, the effectiveness of each frame of references changes. Or each frame of references transforms based on newly acquired experiences and knowledges. As described, some consider “natural science” as blasphemy, some consider “religion” as superstition. These two sets of frames of references are considered to contradict each other. Both, however, are based on human experiences. Each are valid based on human experiences. In scientific education, we tried to build scientific frame of references in students as the everlasting process of verifying hypothesis. Unfortunately, in actual theater of education, science or scientific hypothesis is taught as theory. We think that base of religious belief is on human desire to understand world. Natural science is also derived from human desire to understand world. When we look around the human history, religious belief sometimes seems to degenerate to superstition. In our education, scientific theory is sometimes recognized as“ absolute truth”. Educators have to recognize this problem. |
