| 内容記述 | The connection between moral judgment and motivation is one of the most controversial issues in contemporary metaethics. The proponents of internalism maintain that morality is necessarily or non-accidentally a source of motivation to action. In motivational internalism, moral judgments are of conceptual necessity connected to motivation to pursue what is judged morally good and to shun what is judged morally wrong. Externalists, holding that moral motivations are at best contingently connected to moral judgments, state that moral judgments can motivate only in collaboration with a distinct conative state. In "Moral Cognitivism and Motivation" Svavarsdottir tries to refute internalism by demonstrating that human beings cannot be motivated morally without sustaining a desire to be moral as a distinct conative state. This article discusses the Svavarsdottitir's arguments and indicates some weaknesses in her rebuttal, focusing on her odd supposition that rational agents could judge morally, but cannot be motivated to. | |||||||||||
