A study was conducted to examine the correlation in students between swimming motor ability and their evaluation of the syllabus planning used for the intensive swimming class. This study, made from 1997 to 2000, was to measure students' swimminmg motor ability and their evaluation of syllabus planning in the intensive swimming class. The measurement for swimming motor ability was made using a 10 minute swimming session, and the measurement for evaluation of syllabus planning was made with a questionnaire for evaluation consisting of 30 items. The 30 items were composed of 6 categories, namely skill, knowledge, awareness, health, class planning and instructor. The evaluation was a 5 level multiple choice questionnaire taken by 346 students. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The average of 10 minute swimming distance was 305.18m (1^<st> time) and 351.79m (2^<nd> time), respectively. 2. There was a highly significant difference between 1^<st> time and 2^<nd> time for the 10 minute swimming distance, with the average of swimming distance (2^<nd> time) being 46.61m farther than the 1^<st> time. 3. Regardless of superiority or inferiority in swimming motor ability, many students set a high valuation on all 30 items, especially the 2 items relation to skill and instructor were most highly valuated. 4. Students of high swimming motor ability showed a tendency to evaluate the intensive swimming method consistently higher. |
