| 内容記述 | In the 1980s, Mexico-U.S. migration was widely thought to discourage autonomous economic growth in traditional migrant-sending villages of Central Mexico and to promote economic dependency. This pessimistic view is typically based on migrant remittances-migradollars-overwhelmingly being spent on non-productive ends. Reichert called Mexico-U.S. migration the "migrant syndrome". However, Reichert failed to account for multiplier effects of consumer spending. The basis of his analytical framework for the migrant syndrome is not necessarily obvious. In order to identify theoretical and economic characteristics of the migrant syndrome in rural Mexico, this paper compares Taylor's policy simulation results from the village CGE (Computable General Equilibrium) model, the village SAM (Social Accounting Matrix) multipliers model and the neoclassical household farm model. From this comparison, supposing that the migrant syndrome view will be based on the neoclassical household farm model seems reasonable. | |||||||||||
