In the training course for licensed psychologists, “Practical Training in Psychology” is still at a stage that needs examination. This is because experience and results of psychological training in undergraduate education is still limited in Japan. Therefore, in this paper, we examined the ideal way of “Practical Training in Psychology” classes based on practical examples from the first year at our university.
The classes of “Practical Training in Psychology” at this university are characterized by (1) active learning-style classes, (2) lectures by guest speakers, (3) utilization of online tools, and (4) studies on worksheets by students and corrections / evaluations by lecturers.
Based on our practical examples above, the issues and prospects of the “Practical Training in Psychology” are as follows: (1) Design a curriculum associated with other subjects and graduate schools, (2) Careful examination of lesson and class methods to lead students to reflection and deeper learning, and (3) lesson design that promotes student development from the perspective of university education. |
