| 内容記述 | Previous studies have reported that mothers of children with disabilities have many difficulties such as lower household income, lower workforce participation, and lower mental health status than mothers of typically developing children. However, little is known about these issues among mothers caring for children with disabilities in single-parent status. The present study reviews recent research on socioeconomic status and health status of mothers raising children with disabilities in single parent status. A questionnaire survey conducted in Japan showed that single mothers caring for children with disabilities were more likely to be employed but had lower incomes than married mothers. In reviewing the studies, we suggested further financial support should be provided for single mothers caring for children with disabilities. | |||||||||||
